The Gem City


Lynden is the second largest city in Whatcom County, Washington. Located approximately 5 miles south of the U.S.-Canadian border and about 15 miles north of Bellingham via the Guide Meridian, Lynden is a quaint rural town surrounded by small farms and agricultural businesses. The town of Lynden is situated in an expansive valley along the Nooksack River, which outlets into nearby Bellingham Bay. The city of Lynden is about 5.2 square miles in size with a population of about 13,000.


Lynden’s Dutch heritage can be experienced through many various businesses along Front Street where some have been made-over with a Dutch theme including; Lynden Dutch BakeryDutch Mother’s Restaurant, and the Dutch Village Inn, complete with it’s classic windmill design.


Lynden is host to many popular community events including one of the largest in the county, the Northwest Washington Fair, an annual state fair with a focus on agricultural heritage and education with family friendly entertainment and attractions.
