Whatcom County Waterfront Life

Birch Bay is known for his shallow, warm waters and miles of sandy beaches. During low tides in the summer the area attracts shellfish and clam diggers, sandcastle sculptors, and beachcombers. There are five golf courses in this area and Birch Bay State Park is just minutes south of the business district.

Located between Semiahmoo Bay and Lummi Bay, Birch Bay is a census-designated place in Whatcom County, about 21 square miles in size with a population of about 9,000. Though technically part of Blaine, WA to the north, the community of Birch Bay shares it’s name with the shallow, warm waters and miles of sandy beaches. Birch Bay Waterslides is a popular attraction during the warmer months, operating between Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends each year.
