Tulips and more in the Skagit Valley

Skagit County is the home of the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. Bustling communities from Anacortes to Mount Vernon and Sedro-Woolley offer plenty of diversity. Highway 20 stretches through from the Olympic peninsula to the scenic North Cascades Highway.

Skagit County is about 1,920 square miles in size with a population of about 120,000. The county encompasses four cities, Mount Vernon being the largest and county seat, four towns and three Salish Native American tribe reservations. Skagit Transit provides bus service in Skagit County as well as connections to Everett, Bellingham, Whidbey Island and Camano Island. Skagit Transit also operates the Guemes Island ferry linking Anacortes to Guemes Island. There are many festivals throughout Skagit County during the year, but none are more popular than the Tulip Festival. IN 2015, folks from all 50 states and from 85 different countries visited the tulip fields in Skagit County.

Skagit County offers many options for quality education, including six public high schools, five public middle schools, a community college and an array of private schools.
